Design options for Becca's engagement ring
I am sooo happy that we are having some hot weather. I was emotionally getting ready to hunker down and get out the cosy woolens, but I really needed a little more summer than the London weather we had in recent months. There is, however, a huge drawback. My attic workspace is scorching. I can only work in there in the mornings, until about 12. Then I start to melt. So I had to abandon a job that was almost complete and go down a couple of floors to my back bedroom (aka office) which is nice and cool. I decided to get on with another job that has been in abeyance for a bit. Another engagement ring (which will have a matching wedding ring too) featuring 2 heirloom diamonds to be taken from a ring granny has. I started sketching in 3D - that is, using 2 sapphires of the same size and shape, I used wax twig castings I made recently to puzzle together different configurations of twigs, buds and marquise gemstones. I then did some gap filling in thanks to Photoshop, to come up with these photo sketches of potential designs. You will need to use your imagination a little and assume that the gemstones will be on top of the finger and the twigs will wrap around. What do you think? Do you have any preferences? Do you find this works for you as a way to illustrate designs?
