The different options if you are looking for gold colour jewellery.
I offer a variety of different metals or finishes in order to give you as much choice as possible at a price point that is right for you.
You can order most of my jewellery in sterling silver, 9 carat gold, 14 carat gold or 18 carat gold.
Some of my designs are available in gold plated sterling silver. Some jewellery sellers might call this vermeil or 18 carat gold vermeil, which can be confusing. If you order any gold plated jewellery from me, it will be a minimum of 3 microns hard gold plated with 22+ carat gold. This process is carried out by trusted provider in London and the outcome is a very durable and long lasting finish. The item can also be re-plated at any time in the future.
An alternative to gold plating is a material called goldfilled. This is only available for conponents, wire or sheet and involves a manufacturing process which fuses a thick layer of gold onto a base metal, usually brass. It is much more durable than gold plating and is a great choice if you intend to wear your jewellery for many years to come without the need to re-plate it.
Goldfilled is not available on my cast pieces such as my twig collections.
If you are allergic to certain metals, it's important to know what you are actually buying. In terms of gold vermeil, it should state the carat value of the gold which is applied to the silver beneath it. Goldfilled is usually sold with a gold layer which is 12 or 14 carats. As this is quite a thick layer, your reference point would be the carat value of the gold on the outside as you wouldn't expect your skin to come into contact with the base metal beneath it.
